The subject of Gafni`s exhibition is Womanhood. The materials, rather then the concepts, dictate her the woman “research”: dirt, taken from her backyard, is used to recreate her pre-historic image, a piece of a torn blanket to introduce the softer, more transient parts of her, and finally modern synthetic materials, such as plastic, for those parts that only modern science could penetrate, dislocate and research, to ensure her function of a procreator. All the works are enclosed in a shrine-like space, to which the spectator is invited to enter and where there is room for both old and new “documentations” of the woman place in society.
