Hanna Braverman,
Through the Window
Curator: Nomi Bruckmann
17 Jul — 18 August, 2010
Hanna Braverman’s exhibition is dedicated mostly to oil pastel works, drawn “through the window” of her apartment in the German Colony in Jerusalem. Hanna started painting late in life, after a long and rich academic life and many years as a teacher.
Even though she participated in many different painting workshops, it seems that an inner personal truth exists in her paintings including revelations that are surprisingly powerful.
Her attitude towards painting is unique – she tends to paint her images abstractly, turning them into poetry. In addition, she chooses intense and compressed colors that remind us of Expressionist paintings. Her paintings are deep and personal, deriving from the depths of her soul, which is intuitive, uncompromising, clear and decisive and with a strong visual awareness.
