The painting exhibition: “Retreat from Paradise”, is the endpoint of a lengthy process combining two worlds into a series of paintings: the literary-intellectual motif and the graphic motif in its various forms.
The story of Paradise is the starting point for the quest after a different interpretation. Here, the man chooses to leave the place that became too small for his dimension; a place which is safe and quiet as well as restrictive and limited. Like a baby, who leaves his mother’s womb, a kind of cozy paradise, so thus the man breaks the boundaries of Paradise to face a world full of challenges.
Genady’s creative process is not solely the result of observation and calculated plannng but rather a derivation of the painting activity itself. The encounter between the brush and the canvas leads to an accumulation of coincidences, making the painting process all the more unpredictable. As the work progresses the painting becomes detached from the original idea that led it and forges a new path into its own reality, with the goal of creating a static object containing inner logic and rich visual content.
