“Luis uses old wooden doors, drawers etc. as the support for his works, many of which are marked by objects or geometric shapes, a rich yet indecipherable sign language. The figures in his paintings radiate a vitality and human narrative strengthened by the sensitive, poetic text found in the paintings. Assia works on wood or a more charged support of kitchen towels left her by a female relative. An integral part of her works is the leaf design on the towels, which for her is a link between the Israeli-kibbutz experience and European cultural sources. Her scenes from the Jordan valley include figures of kibbutz pioneers. It seems that on a deeper level, she mourns the reality close to her heart that is perhaps disappearing.” (Nava Shoshani)
