Drawing Installation
17 May — 15 June, 2003
Drawing Installation is a continuation of three previous works entitled Public Garden, The Local Children’s Park 1997-2002 and Physical-Kingdom.
This installation examines the complex, yet reconcilable relationship between the individual versus the collective. The fact that the opening of this exhibition falls so close to Independence Day (Yom Ha-Atzmaut) can be interpreted as less than coincidental, providing an additional dimension to this discourse. Drawing Installation developed from three different series of works including wall sketches, sketches on paper and sketches on plywood. The first series, drawn with blue chalk, depicts a bent male figure bearing an R.P.G. – a recurring theme in the artist’s work. The works on plywood and painted in blue, depict two children with a flag. The series of sketches, also on plywood, portray a small figure waving its hand.
