The exhibition presents works by honor students of design and architecture, winners of the competition for the design and planning of educational buildings.
The competition, taking place for the 7th time, is an initiative of the Department of school Building Design at the ministry of education. It aims to increase the awareness of this unique architectural discipline, to encourage student’s to deepen their understanding of it and to specialize in it, qualifying them as future architects in this field; to encourage originality and creativity in planning and designing school buildings and changing their appearance in the local landscape, while placing an emphasis on creative solutions for required functions. In addition, this year a special emphasis was placed on the integration of school buildings in the community, as well as on the development of unique learning environments and on planning schools in a manner that will aid in the reduction of violence and vandalism.
Prizes were awarded to 12 projects in three categories: a basic project, for the planning of a defined elementary school within a physical space; a complex-combined project, for the planning of an elaborate cultural-educational system within an urban environment; and a buildings and environment design project, for the reassignment and reorganization of existing buildings, while adapting them to modern learning and teaching methods. In this framework, an emphasis was placed on the buildings’ interior designs, as well as the formation of a unique environment, which serves the educational process and the planning of the school yard as a learning space.
