“There is something especially charming in the way Lilach Weiss, while recently residing in Stockholm, reconstructs, in a romantic but sarcastic way, scenes of the pioneering spirit in the early days of Israel, that look like dreams on the edge of ribaldry. The super-saturated colours, the over-theatrical staging, and mostly, the massive but pale Swedish actors give the works something that tickles nostalgia, while revealing a cheap plastic version underneath it all.

Something completely different happens in the second series, despite or maybe because it is from “here.” Weiss’ touch still remains: saturated colours, dramatic compositions and alienation of normative landscape, yet the narrative is hidden.
