Eve Menes was born in Belgium, moved to Brazil with her family in 1940 and grew up in New York. She studied art at Pratt Institute and Columbia University at a time of much ferment in the New York art scene. She has been fascinated by the medium of watercolor since her move to Israel in 1970.Many of these large watercolors are inspired by impressions of the French Hill neighborhood. But she also goes beyond landscape to the human presence.
