The figures in his paintings radiate a vitality and human narrative strengthened by the sensitive, poetic text found in the paintings. Assia works on wood or a more charged support of kitchen towels left her by a female relative. An integral part of her works is the leaf design on the towels, which for her is a link between the Israeli-kibbutz experience and European cultural sources. Her scenes from the Jordan valley include figures of kibbutz pioneers.
