Her relationship with that tradition is one of acceptance as well as rejection. In instances of \u201cconsciousness\u201d the painting abides rules and dogmas, however, while \u201ccomatose\u201d it is liberated from the constraints of \u201creason\u201d and enabled to produce \u201cmonsters,\u201d that are in fact the magical instances of the painting, its focal points. Painting at the site of a struggle between \u201cconsciousness\u201d and \u201csleep\u201d is one that enjoys a minded sense of restraint alongside a sense of freedom, daring, spontaneity and the presence of the unknown.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Anne Ben-Or\u2019s new exhibition is dedicated to paintings depicting group scenes, mainly the artist\u2019s family members.
