Awarded in collaboration with the Jerusalem Artists’ House<\/strong><\/p>\n

David Rosenberg<\/strong> is the winner of the 2026 Osnat Mozes Painting Prize for a Young Artist, awarded in collaboration with the Jerusalem Artists’ House. Introduced in 2007, the Prize includes a 10,000 NIS award and a solo exhibition at the Jerusalem Artists’ House.<\/p>\n

Rosenberg’s exhibition will open at the Jerusalem Artists’ House on August 22, 2026.<\/p>\n

In their statement, the prize committee members noted:<\/p>\n

David Rosenberg’s art explores the formal transformations of the painterly medium with sensitivity, depth, and a playful approach. In his oeuvre, he delves into the relationship between the painting’s surface and its role as a generator of illusion. His works emerge from a commitment to rigorous, painstaking inquiry, counterweighted by humor and self-awareness. His performative painting comprises architectural and graphic imagery, complex compositions, and built structures that evoke billboards, riddles, and warning signs. His profound understanding of the medium’s materiality cements his status as a promising artist, working from a deep affinity with the tradition of abstract painting, both international and Israeli. Rosenberg approaches painting as a question: What is an image? What is abstract painting? At what moment does the work come apart? What sustains it? And how, despite everything, does the painterly act remain contemporary and more relevant than ever?<\/p>\n

For all these qualities, we have chosen to confer the 2026 Osnat Mozes Painting Prize for a Young Artist on David Rosenberg.<\/p>\n
